The Reingold Tutors

Sandra

Tutor

Sandra Fournier moved to Toronto from St. Thomas, ON to attend York University and graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Honours Psychology degree concurrent with a Rehabilitation Services diploma from Seneca College. Now, Sandra works in research at Sunnybrook Hospital. In the future, she hopes to work in a position that intersects education and psychology, her two main passions. Sandra has worked at Reingold Tutoring for six years and her favourite part is helping a student understand a difficult concept and gain confidence in their abilities. When Sandra is not doing research or tutoring, she spends her time reading, hiking and with friends.

Brian

Tutor

Born and raised in the small country town of Toronto, Ontario, I’ve been working for Reingold Tutoring since 2019. I currently have a BA and MA at York University for Political Science and I am going into a PhD program at McMaster University. My plans in the future are to pursue politics, whether academically or professionally. I love tutoring because I love to help students grow as individuals and expand their intellectual capacities. In my personal time I like to play music, watch crime films and pet my cat Lenny.

I can teach: Social Science, Civics, English, Political Science, Economics, Sociology

Kaitlyn

Tutor

I am currently a PhD student at the University of Toronto (UofT) studying the genetics of neurodevelopment disorders. I chose to study neurodevelopmental disorders because of my passion for working with children. My enjoyment of working with children started when I was growing up in Ottawa and working at summer camps. From there, during my undergraduate degree I volunteered at The Hospital for Sick Children playing with kids in the ICU and rocking babies. Seeing how resilient and adjusting kids are made me realize how inspiring it can be to work with them. During my undergrad  I took Human Biology and French. This allowed me the opportunity to work with the program Let’sTalk Science. We taught basic science to elementary and high school students and performed fun experiments. There I realized I could incorporate my love of science and working with children. In the future I hope to work in a hospital setting using my genetics background from my PhD. For fun, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my friends and family, especially biking, as well as travelling.

Jessica

Tutor

I’m in my second year at the University of Toronto, majoring in pharmacology. I’m originally from Calgary, but I moved to Toronto for university. In the future, I hope to go into graduate school and then work in drug research and development.  I’ve been working at Reingold Tutoring since October 2019. I chose to work in tutoring because I know very well what it’s like to struggle with homework but have no one to ask for help. It’s really soul-crushing and overwhelming to just not understand an important concept. So I want to help students that need assistance and help them learn, not only so they get good grades, but also so that they can enjoy their time at school. Some of my hobbies outside of school include:
  • Baking
  • Drawing
  • Spending time with my family
  • Spending time with my cat
  • Watching jeopardy

Rebecca

Tutor

I was born in São Paulo, Brazil. Spent most of my childhood living in Lima, Peru. Two years ago I moved to Toronto to go to university here. I have been working at Reingold Tutoring for almost a year now. I am going into the third year of my Physics and Astronomy specialist degree at the University of Toronto. I plan to continue with further education and either go into the research industry or the education industry, or maybe both! Tutoring is the best way for me to share my knowledge in some of these subjects and help someone else out like others helped me. If I can get my student to be just a little bit more interested in science or math, or feel a little bit more capable in these areas, I feel very accomplished. When I’m not studying or tutoring, I enjoy going for long walks with my dog, playing music and watching live concerts, and playing sports like tennis or basketball.

Hannah

Tutor

I am a student at the University of Toronto, specializing in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, and majoring in Global Health. I have tutored high school math, sciences and English for about two years, and have been working at Reingold Tutoring for about one year. I love interacting with students and helping them gain a better understanding of their studies. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, painting, and photography.

Parsa

Tutor

My name is Parsa, and I am a third year undergraduate student at the University of Toronto studying Neuroscience. My fascination with science began in middle school and has been increasing exponentially ever since. In my program we get to learn about cutting edge neuroscience research and have the chance to apply our knowledge in the lab. I am currently a member of two separate research labs in well-known hospitals, focusing on improving my skillset for graduate school. As a tutor my goal is to convince my students that science and math are fun and with the right mindset anything can be learned efficiently. I try to tailor my study sessions for each of my student’s needs, and motivate them to enjoy the time they spend with the concepts.

Jacob

Tutor

Jacob has worked at Reingold Tutoring for two years. Having completed a Master of Journalism degree at Ryerson University, he writes and edits on a freelance basis while tutoring in the humanities at the high school and undergraduate levels. He plans to keep writing until it becomes a career! Jacob enjoys tutoring because it hones his mind; there’s no better way to make sure you know something than to explain it to someone else. When he isn’t tutoring or writing, he reads, practices calligraphy, and jogs.

Elisabeth

Tutor

I am a Master of Science graduate student at the University of Toronto. During the day, I work in a lab at The Hospital for Sick Children, studying lipid disorders that commonly affect diabetic patients. During the evening, I am a tutor for Reingold Tutoring! I have been working with Reingold Tutoring for the past two years, sharing my love of the sciences and mathematics with students of all grade levels! I discovered that I loved teaching early on in my academic career, as I grew up tutoring my younger brother, who has a learning disability. Working with him has helped me grow as a tutor and develop different techniques in supporting students with unique academic requirements. After all my work is done, I spend my free time hiking, kayaking, and making music in a Toronto-based orchestra!”

Bela

tutor

Hi, I’m Bela and I am an Economics and Women and Gender Studies student. I am curently completing my undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto. I grew up in Toronto and completed the IB Diploma. I have experience tutoring high school level Math, English, and Economics.

Natalia

Tutor

I am a second year student at the University of Toronto doing a biological chemistry specialist program. My science experience includes minor medical research work at CATS college Canterbury, UK, and a lab work in a synthetic chemistry lab at UofT. I am them planning to go to a medical school.

I enjoy tutoring, because I love seeing the spark in students’ eyes when they finally understand how something works. Besides improving students’ marks, my main goal is to show that science and mathematics can be extremely interesting and engaging, and that they are much more than just memorization.

Interesting fact about me: I am also an artist and have finished an academic art program in Moscow. Thus, you can guess that I bring a lot of pictures and infographics into my tutoring sessions to enhance learning and understanding. I am originally from Russia and moved to Toronto, ON, in 2017, so I also speak Russian. Additionally, I speak Ukranian and will be more than happy to provide help in those languages.

Jadyn

TUTOR

Hi, I’m Jadyn! I am from Toronto and I am currently studying Biomedical Sciences at the University of Guelph. Throughout my schooling, I have tutored individuals in subjects that include biology, chemistry and math. I enjoy making a difference, seeing my students grow, helping them to understand different concepts, and passing on knowledge and wisdom. During my summers I enjoy connecting with my campers as a camp counsellor while teaching in an engaging way.  In addition to tutoring, I am passionate about science, volunteering, and activism. My future goal includes working in the health care field specifically in research.  In my free time, I enjoy reading, travelling, listening to musicals, watching Netflix, and hanging out with my friends.

Monica

Tutor

Hey, I’m Monica! I’m majoring in Communications Information Technology and minoring in French and Education Studies at University of Toronto, Mississauga. I hope to pursue a career in teaching in the future. As Abdul Kalam said, “Teaching is a very noble profession that shapes the character, caliber, and future of an indiviual.” It has always been a dream of mine to make an impact on a child’s life. There’s no better feeling knowing I could help shed some light on a child’s learning capability. I love the joy and fulfillment it gives me if I can help a student simply understand a concept they’re struggling with, make learning fun for them or help them reach their fullest potential. In my free time, I love taking photographs, travelling, trying out new food places, and spending time with family and friends.

Julia

During the year, Jordan works at his university newspaper called The Gazette as one of their sports editors. He also works during the summer as a unit head at a day camp. Jordan hopes to do for his students what his teachers did for him: give them a chance to impress themselves with what they can accomplish with hard work, focus, and the right teaching touch. In his spare time, Jordan loves to play sports and watch his favourite teams: the Leafs, Raptors, Blue Jays, and Vikings.

Born in Trinidad and raised in Canada with multiple years spent living abroad, I’ve had many opportunities to build relationships with a diverse group of people. Right now, I’m a first-year student at the University of Toronto studying Social Sciences.  I hope to develop my education in a way that will allow me to support groups of people across the world who may not be granted the same access to education. I’ve always believed that knowledge is a powerful thing with the capability to change lives. In part, this is why I enjoy tutoring so much. In every one of my four years of high school, I spent time as a tutor for students in reading, writing, English, and math. I’m glad to have the opportunity to continue working as a tutor here while I’m studying in university. Besides tutoring, I enjoy spending time in nature, exploring the city, and reading a good book.
